Daydreams

Daydreams Are Costly. Avoiding daydreaming is important. Human life follows a pattern of “checks and balances.” There is never just one way to do things, one way to act, or one decision to make. There are always at least two choices. There is always a wrong way and a right way, a sure way and a questionable way, a positive way and a negative way.

When we frankly admit all this, and carefully weigh our thoughts and actions, we most often find the right way, the sure way, the positive way. This way we tend to “check” our mental and physical actions that are questionable, and put the “balance” in our favor through desirable action. Dreams are no exception to this law. There can be “bad dreams” as well as good ones. Mental pictures of things you want to happen are “bad dreams” when they shape up as no more than daydreams. In fact the habit of daydreaming can be most costly – materially, spiritually, and morally. You have seen the effects of this habit in the lives of other people. For example, there are those people you know who just plod along in life, doing the same thing day in and day out. You know they must dream of a better life, yet nothing changes. These people are lazy daydreamers, and the habit of daydreaming has become a substitute for enthusiastic living!

Then there is the person you know who is beset with fears. You know this person could act differently and combat those fears; and yet, he or she continues to live with them. This person does dream of release from fear, but they are dreams that have become a habit, a habit that provides temporary relief from the effects of fear. Unfortunately, fears grow in the mind of this person.

There are people who seem always to be in “hot water”; things never seem to go right, and they are always facing a crisis in their lives. You know these people have the capacity to act intelligently, yet they seem to have the knack of running off the track. The truth is that they know this, too, but they are careless with their dreams. They only partially think things through before they act, and this is a form of dangerous daydreaming.

Daydreaming, in which you consistently “see” things that you don’t really expect to happen, is a costly habit. It blocks out power dreams. It is not the stuff which makes dreams come true!
