Create an Audio Information Product
5 Ways To Achieve It
The process for creating your own audio information product is remarkably easy.
A few years ago, you would have needed expensive equipment, specialist help and possibly even a recording studio to get a good audio information product.
Now if you have a computer and a telephone line, you have everything you need to get started.
There are five main ways in which you can turn your expertise into an audio product.
Record an existing event One of the easiest ways to create an audio product is simply to record an event such as a seminar or workshop that you are already running. The downside of this is that you need to take special care when recording the event to make sure the sound quality is good enough. But the benefit is that you have an audio produced as a by-product of an event that you were already running for very little extra work or expense. Sometimes recordings of live events can carry a premium price tag and the performers often present more effectively in front of a live audience than in a more formal recording setting.
Record yourself For many people it's easier to talk than to write so you just need to put together a list of key topics you want to cover and create a structure for your recording. Once you have your structure in place, you switch on your microphone and start talking. In an hour or two, you could easily have enough content to create a great product you can sell.
Get interviewed If you're not comfortable about just talking into a microphone, simply ask someone to interview you. Tell them the sort of questions they need to ask and that should get you talking about what's important. You could ask a friend or business contact to interview you or ask a journalist with experience of asking the right questions. Either way, it's not a hard-nosed interview, it's more of a friendly chat to draw out the information you need.
Interview experts The other way you can use interviews to quickly create an audio information product is by interviewing one – or more – experts on your topic of interest. This is a particularly good approach if you don't already have a known name in your marketplace. You benefit from the reputations of the people you interview.
Use a professional voiceover Maybe you don't like the sound of your own voice or don't want to take the time to make a recording. As an alternative, if you have a book or a written script, you could pay a voiceover professional to record the audio on your behalf.
